To start counseling, please email or text Brenda to request a free phone consultation. We’ll consider your counseling needs and my counseling services to determine if we are a good match. Next, we’ll schedule your first session. You’ll receive forms on-line to complete in advance of our first visit. Along the way, you can reach out with any questions!

We’ll begin with an 80-minute introductory session to build our relationship and to explore your counseling goals. A standard individual counseling session is 50-minutes and extended sessions are 80-minutes. A standard couples sessions is 80-minutes and extended sessions are 110-minutes. We’ll work together to determine the best plan.

Counseling sessions most often occur weekly, especially during the initial period of counseling. Counseling can occur weekly, biweekly, or monthly, based on a variety of factors. We’ll develop your individualized counseling plan together. At the end of each month, we’ll review our counseling progress and plan the schedule for the following month. As you near your counseling goals we’ll set a date for our final session to recap and celebrate! And you can always reach out for future counseling if needed!

Counseling progress and counseling timeframes vary with different counselors, clients, health conditions, levels of motivation, and counseling approaches. Many people are able to reach their counseling goals within three to six months. Some people may engage in longer-term counseling for ongoing professional support.

Counselors are legally and ethically required to protect your confidentiality. Some confidentiality exceptions exist when a child or adult is in danger of serious harm. Counseling records are confidential medical records protected under the law. Records are stored in a HIPPA compliant electronic health records system.

Rates for individual sessions are $115 for a 50-minute session and $170 for an extended 80-minute session. Rates for couples sessions are $195 for an 80-minute session and $260 for an extended 110-minute session. Rates for sessions on outdoor trails are available upon request. A limited number of sliding scale rates are available for eligible individuals or couples who are suffering financial hardship.

Major credit cards, cash, and Zelle are accepted forms of payment. Payment is automatically billed and collected at the close of each session. All payments are self-pay. To avoid limitations on services rendered, insurance is not accepted at this time. Monthly statements are available via your secure on-line portal.

Health providers are required to provide an estimate of cost of services rendered in advance to people who self-pay for health care services. Further information about The No Surprises Act and a Good Faith Estimate is provided to you via the Discover Truth Counseling disclosure documents provided in advance of our first counseling session. Estimated costs for clients can vary significantly based upon counseling factors.

I most often integrate Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MB-CBT) with Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and other select modalities. I also offer Christian counseling and Nature-Based CBT in addition to other specialized modalities, including CPT for PTSD & trauma, and The Gottman Method for couples.

Counseling together with me will involve a combination of meaningful discussions, educational materials, intervention activities, and out-of-session assignments. Faith-based counseling may involve spiritual discussion and practices. Nature-based therapy involves walking and counseling on outdoor trails.
